Our Mission

With extinctions accelerating at an unprecedented rate, Florida Exotic Species Preserve focuses on providing crucial protection for at-risk and endangered species. FLESP’s multipronged approach to conservation focuses on biological expansion, research, and educational support.
FLESP’s conservation reproduction program is centered on establishing insurance populations by curating, managing, and maintaining genetically valuable and diverse populations.
Creating best management practices in the areas of reproduction, behaviors, diet, housing, and natal care are essential to the future of species in native habitats and in human care. FLESP’s role in data collection continues to contribute to the care, rehabilitation, and evaluation of animals to both zoological programs and protection initiatives in the wild, throughout the world.
Zoos play an essential role in fostering education and sparking a passion for conserving God’s precious creatures. Building and sustaining populations fosters future generations, allowing zoos to not only continue engaging people in conservation, but contributing to re-wilding programs and protection initiatives for the most vulnerable species.
These initiatives coupled with our own ex-situ commitments demonstrate Florida Exotic Species Preserve’s deep commitment to conservation and the protection of the world’s diverse range of species for future generations.
